ALX is a growing provider of mining and exploration supplies with its main operations based in the Yukon’s capital city of Whitehorse. As ALX continues to grow we are looking to expand our operational capacity and ability. The position of Operations Supervisor under the direction of the Operations Manager will provide logistical, administrative, and operational support across all aspects of the business. The successful candidate will have significant opportunity to continue to grow within the company and develop their professional skillset.

ALX is looking for a highly motivated self-starter and committed individual who will provide organization and leadership to ALX’s facilities. This position is for a versatile individual who is always looking for ways to contribute to the overall maintenance, management, efficiency, and improvement of ALX operations. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to provide support across all facets of ALX business operations.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Assisting in maintaining/entering sales orders, purchasing, receiving, invoicing and follow-up to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key personnel across ALX’s entire customer base.
  • Researching and understanding the wide range of products that ALX offers, and the basics of how these products are used in exploration, drilling and mining operations.
  • Providing exceptional service in all dealings with potential and current customers and vendors via effective communication.
  • Other day to day tasks as directed by management including but not limited to: maintaining accurate inventory controls and reports, following up with customers on outstanding payments, providing administrative support to ALX management and answering the ALX general line and directing enquiries.
  • Having the flexibility to take on new projects as the role within the business changes.

In addition, it is expected that the successful candidate will:

  • Have proficiency in computer skills including the use of spreadsheets, word processing programs and other relevant computer applications.
  • Be able to or willing to learn to operate equipment such as a forklift, and to be able to assist with day to day warehouse operations such as order picking.

Education, Knowledge and Skills

Postsecondary education in business administration or a related field is preferred. Trades training in mining, exploration, or related field will also be considered an asset. Applicants with job experience in a similar position and experience with inventory management control systems are preferred. Significant preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and take initiative. Effective communication & organizational skills is a critical component of this position.
