Position Summary

Queer Yukon is seeking an Administrative Assistant to work with the Executive Director and Board to provide day to day administrative support.

This is a public facing job, the incumbent is required to work from the office.

Location: In-Person; QYS office, Whitehorse
Hours: Part-Time up to 22 hours per week (primarily weekday hours, occasional weekends, evenings)
Compensation: $39.51/hr to $40.51/hr (Commensurate with experience)
Benefits: As per QYS Union Collective Agreement
TERM: Term position until March 31, 2027 (Possible extension dependent on funding)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Vulnerable sector security clearance
  • Driver’s license

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain filing systems both electronic and paper based in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Draft communication pieces such as letters, requests and acknowledgements.
  • Support Public facing pride events during Pride.
  • Assist with educational workshops and fundraising events.
  • Minute taking and distribution of minutes from monthly board meetings and regular staff meetings.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, travel and itineraries as needed.
  • Maintain the office supplies (incl. inventory) and schedule repair of equipment as required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records as required.
  • Participate in ensuring safe access and maintenance to Queer Yukon Society office as required.
  • Other duties relevant to this position as assigned by the Executive Director or Board.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Diploma in Office Administration is preferred or 2-3 years’ office experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite 365 and data collection or tracking systems.
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization or for the Yukon Government.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of issues regarding 2SLGBTQIA+.
