WHO IS YWITT?

YWITT is located on the territory of the self-governing Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. Since its incorporation in August 2000, YWITT has been working as a feminist, community non-profit organization based in Whitehorse, Yukon, to advance equality in trades and technology careers. YWITT works alongside community partners and runs programs and initiatives. This includes experiential workshops, advocacy support, community-led research and policy work.

WHAT IS THE JOB?

The Executive Director (ED) of YWITT receives direction from a volunteer Board of Directors (Board). The ED leads the organization to ensure YWITT meets its goals as a non-profit, helping to facilitate equity and inclusion for women and gender-diverse folks in the trades and technology sectors through advocacy, education and support. They have the prerogative to define their own duties and responsibilities to fulfill the mission and vision of the organization.

The Executive Director holds responsibility for generating revenue, managing YWITT’s staff team, its infrastructure and programming - the entire YWITT operation. The Board is a policy governance Board and, as such, intentionally removes itself from nearly all day-to-day operations.

YWITT has a significant role to play in leading inclusion initiatives in the trades industry in the Yukon in a financially viable and sustainable manner, applying a vision that is forward thinking and inspired.
