Renewable Resource Technician

We are seeking a Renewable Resource Technician for the summer season to support our environmental and civil construction operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain field-based experience in land stewardship and infrastructure development across the Yukon.

Working on a two weeks on / two weeks off rotation, the successful candidate will assist with environmental monitoring, field data collection, site assessments, and reporting in remote and often rugged conditions. This position is ideal for a motivated student who is passionate about resource management, sustainability, and Northern ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with on-site environmental fieldwork and monitoring activities

• Conduct data collection and support reporting for compliance and environmental assessments

• Identify and document sensitive land and water features (e.g., wildlife habitats, wetlands)

• Work closely with both environmental and construction teams to ensure adherence to best practices and environmental standards

• Maintain detailed field notes and contribute to technical documentation

• Support the implementation of safety procedures in all fieldwork activities

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Renewable Resource Management, Environmental Science, or a related discipline

• Strong interest in environmental stewardship, Indigenous values, and sustainable land-use practices

• Willingness and ability to work in remote field environments under varying weather conditions, including cold and wet climates

• Demonstrates resilience, a positive attitude, and the ability to work safely and effectively in challenging outdoor settings

• Basic familiarity with field equipment, GPS, data collection methods, or wildlife/vegetation identification is an asset

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Yukon
