Employment Opportunity – Director of Lands & Resources

Dease River First Nation (DRFN) is seeking a Director of Lands & Resources to provide leadership in stewardship, Lands governance, and Nation capacity development. This position plays a key role in strengthening DRFN’s ability to exercise self‑government responsibilities, protect its territory, and support Nation participation and benefit where appropriate.

About the Role

The Director provides leadership for the Lands & Resources Department, supports DRFN leadership decision‑making, and helps build strong systems for stewardship, community engagement, and coordinated governance. The role also supports development of DRFN Guardian and Lands capacity and helps strengthen DRFN presence on the land.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the Lands & Resources Department
  • Coordinate DRFN engagement in activities affecting DRFN territory
  • Support DRFN leadership decision processes related to Lands and stewardship
  • Support Nation participation and benefit opportunities where appropriate
  • Support stewardship and Guardian initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with DRFN departments, community members and partners

Qualifications

  • Experience in Lands, stewardship, Indigenous governance or related field
  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Experience working with First Nations preferred
  • Understanding of Aboriginal rights and title considered an asset

Location

Good Hope Lake, BC (preferred) and located on Dease River First Nation Reserve Land.
