Job Title: Auxiliary On Call Programmers

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This Position reports directly to the Program Managers. The incumbent will be responsible for youth engagement & and supervision.

Position Details

Start/End Date: On-Call as needed

Wage Range: $21-$25/hr

Position Location: Whitehorse, YT

Position schedule: On-call, as needed

Position Supervisor: This position reports directly to the BGC Yukon Program Managers

JOB DESCRIPTION

BGC Yukon is looking for an energetic, dedicated people to work as onAuxilary On-Call Youth Programmers in our programs. This position would entail providing supervision, education, safety, and leadership to youth 12 months-23 years of age. BGC Yukon runs multiple, successful programs, designed to meet the needs of children, youth and families. We have multiple program sites and offer a wide varity of programming and supports such as; academic support, employment readiness support, recreation, music, community building opportunities, culinary programming, daily fresh from scratch snacks and meals, land-based activities and much more. We are looking for folks committed to supporting our next generation in finding their best selves and their own positive view of their future. AOC Programmers take an active leadership role in planning and participating in program preparation, delivery, paperwork, and food preparation/culinary education. The Youth Programmers are expected to manage group dynamics, liaise with community members, and foster healthy and fun relationships with participants.

AOC Programmers are expected to be able to:

  • Plan, design, and facilitate programming appropriate for the age group they are working with.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment
  • Prepare and manage attendance lists
  • Keep and manage an inventory of program supplies
  • Liaise with community members
  • Care for and maintain the program spaces
  • Prepare daily snacks and meals in appropriate amounts based on attendance trends
  • Support at selected BGCY fundraising events

QUALIFICATIONS:

AOC Programmer position requires a strong background in working with children, youth, and families, as well as the following certifications:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C
  • Foodsafe Level 1
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check
  • Valid Class 4 Driver's License (asset)
  • WHMIS
  • ELCC required documentation- Dr's note, immunization record, TB test.
