The Yukon Council on Aging is seeking a Whitehorse based contractor for our Learning for Life 2026/27 program. The purpose of this program is to enhance the quality of life for Yukoners aged 55+ with opportunities to gather and connect for lifelong learning. Our 2026/27 season will be comprised of eight 1-2 hour sessions covering a variety of topics that are relevant to Yukoners aged 55+.

The responsibilities of our contractor are:

  • Work with our volunteer board to design our 2026/27 session;
  • Work with our staff to coordinate our 2026/27 session, including identifying and scheduling speakers, booking a venue, promoting the events;
  • Host each event, including setting up the venue, greeting attendees, introducing speaker, cleaning up the venue;
  • Prepare a year-end report for the Board of Directors.

Our ideal coordinator would:

  • Be knowledgeable of issues that are important to Yukoners aged 55+ in order to design a program that resonates with our members
  • Have experience setting up and running remote workshops, such as Zoom, to allow us to offer our sessions to Yukoners who wish to connect remotely.
  • Have previous experience facilitating educational sessions or workshops.
