Little Blue Daycare in Dawson City, Yukon is looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Auxiliary On-Call (AOC) Daycare Worker to join our team!

Position: Auxiliary On-Call Daycare Worker

Employment Type: Casual / On-Call
Wage: $20–$35/hour, depending on experience and qualifications

About the position:

Little Blue Daycare is a small, play-based daycare centre with 20 children enrolled between the ages of 18 months to 5 years.

We are looking for someone who is flexible and reliable and enjoys working with young children. The AOC worker will provide coverage when regular staff are away and may be called in as needed, sometimes with short notice.

The successful candidate will help provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment and be committed to building positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.

Responsibilities:

• Provide warm, attentive care while helping children feel safe, confident, and supported.
• Supporting staff, engaging with children and building relationships to support an on-call role, including understanding and following existing classroom and teachers guidelines.
• Encourage curiosity, creativity, and a genuine love of learning through everyday experiences.
• Participate in indoor and outdoor play, routines, meals, and age-appropriate activities.
• Follow Little Blue Daycare policies, safety practices, and Yukon childcare requirements.

Qualifications:

• ECE training or certification and previous experience working with children is an asset.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and reliability.
• Patient, caring, responsible, and enthusiastic about creating a positive environment for children to grow.
• A genuine interest in play-based learning and positive guidance.
• Flexibility and availability to work on an on-call basis.

Requirements:

• Current First Aid/CPR-C certification
  
• Vulnerable Sector Check
• TB clearance and immunization record
• Medical note
• Ability to meet the physical demands of working with young children
