The Yukon Fish and Game Association (YFGA) is one of the oldest non-profit organizations in the Yukon dedicated to the conservation, management, and sustainable use of Yukon’s fish and wildlife resources. With rich history rooted in the stewardship of the region’s natural heritage, we advocate for responsible hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreational activities.

General Summary:

Reporting directly to the President, the Executive Director (ED) is responsible for ensuring the association’s mission is adhered to by implementing the vision, strategic direction, and operational oversight of the board of directors.

The Executive Director will provide guidance and mentorship to team members, and work closely with the Executive and YFGA Committee, and key stakeholders, including the Yukon Government. The leadership, oversight, and delivery of YFGA programs, member services, and initiatives of the organization will be under your direction.

Leading the creation of new policies, positions and procedures to improve our governance, communication (internal & external), documentation and record-keeping.

Your innovative thinking and out-of-the-box ideas will help ensure the longevity of the Association by securing new funding and leading the rejuvenation of the Association.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, natural resource management, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a non-profit organization, preferably in the fields of fish, wildlife and environment management and conservation or natural resource management.
  • Understanding of the Umbrella Final Agreement and First Nation Final Agreements.
  • Strong financial management experience including budgeting, reporting and revenue generation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Yukon’s wildlife conservation issues and history
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A combination of equivalent education and experience will be equally considered.
