Position title: Program Coordinator

Wage: $30/hour

Length of contract: This contract is for a minimum total of 320 hours, or an average of 10-15 hrs/week from May 1 - Aug 27, with an increase to 35+ hrs/week from Aug 30 - Sep 10. The Program Coordinator will be able to work within their own schedule and hours may vary week-to-week depending on project timelines. Possibility of additional work dependent on funding.

Note: Candidates must be willing to use their own computer, phone and basic office supplies for this position.

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon. We do not have office space; options for a workspace will be explored as necessary.

Are you interested in enhancing communities through artistic programming? Building partnerships with and for youth, rural communities, and First Nations? Do you want to help increase the capacity of local emerging artists?

Come work with Something Shows, an artist- and community-focused non-profit society. You will work with a dedicated, hands-on and supportive volunteer board of directors. As a relatively new non-profit society, we are interested in working closely with the new Program Coordinator to continue to build an inclusive and sustainable organization.

The program coordinator’s main responsibilities will include planning, implementing, and reporting on:

• The Make Something Residency (July 1st - September 4th; a one month, at home residency targeted towards emerging young artists across the Yukon Territory)

• Wondercrawl (September 3rd, 2021; a free interactive arts crawl along the waterfront in downtown Whitehorse.)
• Wonderhorse Emerging Arts and Music Festival ( September 4-5th; a two day emerging arts and music festival taking place in Whitehorse, with the possibility of other communities pending funding.)

The program coordinator will also be encouraged to propose and seek funding for new programming and/or assist the board of directors in seeking funding for regular Something Shows programming. Other duties include: community outreach and engagement; project and budget management; communicating with program participants, partners, funders, and the public; and programming.

Desired qualifications:

• Experience reaching out to and engaging artists, community partners, and funders
• Experience identifying and meeting project goals within specified timelines and resources
• Experience creating and managing budgets
• Experience identifying funding opportunities and writing funding proposals and reports
• Experience with public communications and marketing, including social media
• Experience planning, programming, and/or coordinating events

• Adapts quickly to changing circumstances
• Thinks critically and is able to anticipate and solve problems
