Job Summary

Yukon Rendezvous (YR) is looking for a bright and determined individual to fulfill the role of Operations Assistant from January to March 2022. This is a dynamic role that will allow the individual to be involved in various aspects of organizing and operating the 58th Yukon Rendezvous Festival - The Great Outdoors. This position has room to grow into future full time opportunities with the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Society!

Employment Term: 12 Weeks (3 Month Term)

Compensation: $20.00 an hour / 40 hours a week

Position Requirements

  • Being able to work outside in colder temperatures, sometimes for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs unassisted.
  • Event planning experience or post secondary education in event planning, management or a related field.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings.
  • An understanding of the Yukon Rendezvous Festival.

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. To be eligible for the position, candidates must be:

  • Between 19 and 30 years old.
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Legally entitled to work according to the relevant territorial / provincial legislation and regulations.

Desired Qualifications

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience working in an office environment (filing, answering phones, etc).
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, email, and online research capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as in a team setting.

Position Duties

  • Assist in the implementation of special projects throughout the contract period, whether it be for fundraising or as a special aspect of the Festival.
  • Work with and report to the Operations Coordinator.
  • Maintain website and social media accounts as directed.
  • Work with Event Coordinators and all volunteers.
  • Accurately report and submit timesheets to the Executive Director as outlined in the pay period schedule.
  • Assist Administrative Manager and Executive Director with duties and tasks as required.
  • Facilitate clear communication between all staff and volunteers.
  • Assist in the scheduling of event knowledge sessions with staff and volunteers.
  • Provide advice and assistance to coordinators and volunteers.
  • Proactively build and maintain volunteer relationships.
  • Motivate staff and volunteers and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Maintain general upkeep of the office and regular office duties as required.
  • Assist in the facilitation of the Yukon Rendezvous Festival.
