Midnight Sun Nursing Services Inc. is a home-care nursing service committed to providing compassionate, respectful, and person-centred care to clients in the comfort of their own homes. We are seeking dependable and caring Home Support Workers to join our team.

Position Summary

The Home Support Worker provides compassionate support to clients with activities of daily living while promoting independence, dignity, safety, and quality of life. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, families, nurses, and other members of the care team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful, and person-centred care in clients' homes.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding as required.
• Provide light housekeeping and laundry related to the client's care.
• Assist with safe transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
• Encourage independence and participation in daily activities.
• Observe and report changes in the client's physical, emotional, or cognitive condition to the supervising nurse or appropriate care team member.
• Follow individual care plans and instructions provided by the nursing team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
• Follow infection prevention and control practices.
• Maintain client confidentiality and privacy at all times.
• Report safety concerns, incidents, or changes in client condition promptly.
• Perform other duties related to client care as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience in home support, continuing care, personal care, or a related healthcare setting is required.
• Home Support Worker, Health Care Aide, Personal Support Worker, Continuing Care Assistant, or equivalent training.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Ability to work independently while following care plans and direction from nursing staff.
• Reliable, punctual, compassionate, and professional.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Ability to safely perform physical aspects of the position, including assisting with mobility and transfers.
• Vulnerable Sector/Criminal Record Check is required.
• Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation may be required depending on client assignments.
• FoodSafe level 1
