II. Position Summary
The Cashier is responsible for providing prompt, courteous customer service while accurately processing transactions for fuel, propane, convenience store merchandise, lottery products, and other retail items. The Cashier maintains a clean, well-stocked store environment and performs all duties in a safe and professional manner.
III. Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet all customers promptly in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Respond professionally to customer inquiries.
- Provide efficient and accurate customer service.
Cash Handling & Point of Sale
- Process cash, debit, credit card, charge account and other payment transactions accurately.
- Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Record vehicle licence numbers and purchase order numbers on applicable charge transactions.
Retail Operations
- Sell lottery products in accordance with regulations.
- Verify identification for age-restricted products.
- Keep coffee stations clean and fully stocked.
- Restock shelves and merchandise throughout the shift.
- Inspect product labels and report missing or incorrect pricing.
Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean store, washrooms, entrances and customer areas.
- Report low inventory and supply levels to Management.
Health & Safety
- Perform duties in a safety-conscious manner protecting employees, customers and property.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Teamwork
- Assist co-workers as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Program Administration
- Enroll new customers into the Integra Tire Loyalty Program.
- Process eligible loyalty transactions accurately and ensure purchases are applied to customer loyalty accounts.
- Assist customers with questions regarding the Integra Tire Loyalty Program.
- Enroll new clients in the Yukon Government online Campground, Angling and Hunting registration system.
- Assist customers in navigating and completing campground, angling and hunting registrations in accordance with Yukon Government procedures.
IV. Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Station Manager and Assistant Managers.
V. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.
- Ability to accurately handle cash and operate a POS system.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position.
- Ability to learn and operate online registration systems, including the Integra Tire Loyalty Program and Yukon Government Campground, Angling and Hunting database.
VI. Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 1–2 years of customer service or retail experience.
- Ability to legally work in Canada.
- Ability to accurately enroll customers in loyalty and government online registration systems.
Preferred
- Previous cash handling and convenience store experience.
- Experience with lottery sales and POS systems.
Certifications
- Lottery Terminal Operator Certification.
- Tobacco – Smart Age Certification.
VII. Working Conditions
- Standing for extended periods.
- Evening, weekend and holiday shifts may be required.
