II. Position Summary

The Service Station Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while safely dispensing fuel, propane, and convenience store products. This position delivers full-service fueling, assists customers with basic vehicle care, processes sales transactions accurately, and maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the service station, fuel pumps, propane facilities, and surrounding property. The Service Station Attendant performs all duties in a professional, courteous, and safety-conscious manner while supporting the daily operations of Integra Tire Whitehorse.

III. Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Provide prompt, friendly, and professional full-service assistance to all customers.
  • Greet customers in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Wash vehicle windows upon request.
  • Check engine oil, coolant, and other fluid levels when requested.
  • Check and adjust tire pressures when requested.
  • Assist customers with locating products and services.
  • Respond professionally to customer inquiries and concerns.

Fuel & Propane Operations

  • Safely dispense gasoline and diesel fuel.
  • Fill out fuel charge slips accurately for each applicable vehicle.
  • Record vehicle licence numbers for all charge accounts.
  • Inspect, fill, and recertify propane cylinders up to 100 lb in accordance with company procedures.
  • Follow all fuel handling and propane safety procedures.

Cash Handling & Point of Sale

  • Accurately process cash, debit, credit, charge account and other payment transactions.
  • Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system correctly.
  • Balance transactions in accordance with company procedures.

Store Operations

  • Restock shelves, coolers, oils, windshield washer fluid and other merchandise.
  • Notify Management when inventory or supplies require replenishment.
  • Assist with merchandising and maintaining an attractive retail environment.

Housekeeping & Maintenance

  • Keep fuel pumps, pump islands and fueling areas clean.
  • Maintain the propane storage area.
  • Clean customer service areas, washrooms, windows, entrances and exterior walkways.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or hazards immediately.

Documentation

  • Complete opening and closing procedures.
  • Complete all daily checklists and required documentation accurately.

Health & Safety

  • Perform duties in a safe manner that protects customers, employees and property.
  • Follow all company safety policies and safe work procedures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report hazards, incidents and injuries immediately.

Teamwork

  • Work cooperatively with all employees.
  • Provide assistance to co-workers whenever required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

IV. Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Station Manager and Assistant Managers.

V. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to operate a Point-of-Sale (POS) system accurately.
  • Basic mathematical skills for cash handling.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all Yukon weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs).

VI. Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 1–2 years of customer service experience.
  • Ability to legally work in Canada.

Preferred

  • Previous retail fuel station or convenience store experience.
  • Previous cash handling and Point-of-Sale experience.

Certifications

  • Propane Training Certificates 100-01, 100-11 and 100-04, or nationally accepted equivalent certifications.

VII. Working Conditions

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Working indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
  • Exposure to fuel, propane, weather and vehicle traffic.
  • Evening, weekend and holiday shifts may be required.
