Reports To

The Facility Assistant will report to the Operations Manager of Heritage North Funeral Home.

Job Overview

Responsible for assisting in a variety of roles required by the Operations Manager to meet the operational needs of Heritage North Funeral Home.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Demonstrate the ability to work independently to ensure duties assigned are completed in a timely manner as requested by the Operations Manager.
• Adhere to all Heritage North policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate professional communication in managing the Heritage North Funeral Home facility maintenance contracts:
  • Understand the details and requirements of each contract.
• Ensure the contractor is providing the right service at the right time.
• Build and maintain relationships with all these service providers.
• Outdoor Duties may include:
  • Snow maintenance: using quad, snow blower, shoveling, spreading sand
• Yard maintenance: watering plants, pruning, fertilizing and weeding
• Garbage maintenance: dump runs, recycling and general cleaning
• Office Duties may include:
• • Errands around town such as dropping off invoices or picking up supplies.
• Filling and preparing packages
• Event Duties may include:
  • Making and maintaining coffee/water service for clients
• Setting up tables and chairs
• Laundry duties which include washing, drying, folding and returning to proper location.
• Cleaning rooms at the end of events
• Funeral Operations duties may include:
  • Building of basic cremation caskets
• Organizing a variety of different supplies
• Performing transfers of the decedent from place of death to the funeral home.
• Other Duties
  • Housekeeping/Maintenance duties of Heritage North Building when required to maintain cleanliness for clients.
• Cleaning/Maintenance duties of Heritage North Vehicles.

Qualifications

Flexible and adaptable

• Basic carpentry skills
• Ability to drive with a trailer
• Must be able to lift 50lbs

Conditions of Employment:

• Valid Class 5 license
• Vulnerable Sector Security Clearance
• WHMIS (within 3 months of hire)
• Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (within 3 months of hire)
• (minimum of 3 years driving insurance history)
