Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator to join our dynamic team at Total North Communications. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with federal and territorial regulations, and promoting a culture of safety across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of occupational health and safety practices, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating workplace hazards.
Number of Position Available: 1
Term of Employment: Permanent Position, 40 hours per week
Business Location: 127 Copper Rd, Whitehorse, YT Y1A 2Z7
On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely
Wage: $37.50 per hour

Responsibilities:
- Lead and participate in workplace audits and investigations of safety concerns, incidents and accidents
- Lead and participate in workplace inspections to ensure that equipment, materials and production processes do not present a safety or health hazard to employees
- Develop and implement health and safety programs, including standard operating procedures, policies and training, to mitigate risk, optimize workers' health and safety, and foster a positive occupational health and safety culture
- Initiate enforcement procedures on workplaces contravening organization and government health and safety standards and regulations
- Provide training to employers, employees and the general public on issues of workplace safety
- Communicate, engage and influence decision-makers and workers to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Advise senior management on occupational health and safety matters, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation and preventative measures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Good experience of workplace health and safety laws and regulations
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to spot hazards and find safety solutions
- Work well independently and with a team
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and safety software
