- Read and interpret specifications, drawings, and instructions to determine the work required.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks, and removing old paint.
- Mix and match paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishing materials.
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, wallpaper, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, sprays, and other equipment.
- Apply primers, sealers, and protective coatings to different surfaces.
- Measure and calculate the quantities of materials required for the job.
- Repair and prepare walls, ceilings, woodwork, and other surfaces before applying finishes.
- Use ladders, scaffolding, and other equipment safely when working at heights.
- Protect furniture, floors, windows, and other areas from paint and damage.
- Clean and maintain brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other tools.
- Perform touch-ups and finishing work to ensure a high-quality appearance.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Work on residential, commercial, industrial, and other construction or renovation projects.
