Security Guards (NOC 64410).
Full time hours (35 to 40 hours per week)
Hourly rates starting at current median wage for NOC 64410

To start as soon as territorial licensing requirements have been fulfilled.

• Looking for long-term fulfilling work
• Can work any day of the weekday or night
• Has a class 5 drivers license and access to a vehicle
• Previous experience in security within a mining environment is strongly preferred

Job Summary
Specific Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide access control and on-site security at assigned locations.
• Conduct regular patrols and monitor activities to identify safety or security issues.
• Respond promptly and professionally to incidents and emergencies.
• Prepare accurate reports and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with clients, team members, and public safety officials.

Minimum Position Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 or GED
• Basic Security Training (BST) Course
• Valid Yukon Security Guard Licence (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or public safety preferred.
• Strong communication and observation skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• A Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required. The license must not include any restrictions that would affect the ability to legally and safely carry out job responsibilities. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the department.
• Occupational First Aid Level II
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word
• Ability to navigate Microsoft Excel documents
• General computer and keyboarding skills
• The ability to observe, retain and demonstrate the ability to write a report
• The ability to understand oral and written instructions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with difficult or potentially volatile situations
• Ability to receive cooperation from a wide range of individuals and to take effective measures in emergency situations
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be physically capable of performing all duties including walking long distances, up and down stairs under varying weather conditions
• Prior to confirming an offer, you must provide a Police Records Check
• Priority will be given to applicants who identify as a Yukon First Nation citizen.
• Must be in the Whitehorse area.
