About Us: Klondike Welding Ltd. is a CWB certified company in Division 1 with an in-house engineering department. We specialize in the fabrication and erection of structural steel, bridges, miscellaneous metals, and other custom steel projects.   • Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead and maintain our quality assurance and quality control program. This is a hands-on position responsible for ensuring fabricated and erected steel complies with applicable codes, standards, project specifications, drawings, and Klondike Welding's quality requirements. The successful candidate will oversee welding quality, inspection activities, documentation, non-conformance management, and coordination with production, engineering, clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the company's Quality Assurance and Quality Control program and associated procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with CWB certification requirements and applicable CSA welding and fabrication standards.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, welding requirements, inspection requirements, and quality documentation prior to and during fabrication.
  • Perform and document visual (VT) and magnetic particle (MPI) examinations as required.
  • Coordinate additional NDT, third-party inspection, and testing when required by project specifications or applicable standards.
  • Monitor welding activities, welder qualifications, welding procedures, consumables, material identification, and traceability.
  • Prepare, maintain, and close out Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), inspection reports, quality records, material documentation, and project turnover packages.
  • Identify, document, and manage non-conformances and corrective actions, and work with production and engineering to resolve quality issues.
  • Inspect fabricated structural steel for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, weld quality, and conformance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate quality requirements and inspection hold points with clients, consultants, engineers, and third-party inspectors.
  • Support shop and field personnel with interpretation of drawings, specifications, welding requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Promote practical, consistent quality standards while supporting efficient shop and field production.

Requirements:

  • Current Level 2 certification in Visual Testing (VT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MPI) is a minimum requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding inspection, and quality control practices.
  • Working knowledge of CSA W47.1 and CSA W59 and experience working within a CWB certified fabrication environment.
  • CWB Supervisor certification is not required but will be considered an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining inspection reports, ITPs, NCRs, material traceability records, and quality turnover documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to distinguish code or specification requirements from workmanship preferences.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively with production staff, engineers, clients, and inspectors.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and take ownership of the company's quality program.
