Concrete & Transport Truck Driver

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon Job Type: Full-Time, Seasonal (April–December, with a few months off over the winter)

About the Role

We're looking for a versatile, safety-focused driver to join our team for the season. This role combines concrete mixer truck operation with general transport truck driving, so you'll be a key part of both our concrete delivery and hauling operations. If you're comfortable behind the wheel of a mixer one day and a highway tractor-trailer the next, we want to hear from you.

This is a seasonal position, running through our busy season with time off in the winter months — a great fit if you're looking for steady, full-time work during the season with flexibility in the off-season.

We're happy to consider candidates with strong experience in either concrete or transport driving who are willing to cross-train into the other — dual experience is a big plus but not a strict requirement.

What You'll Do

Concrete Truck Driving

  • Operate a concrete mixer truck to deliver ready-mix concrete to job sites safely and on schedule
  • Load, transport, and pour concrete accurately per site instructions
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and basic maintenance checks on the mixer unit
  • Communicate with dispatch and site crews to coordinate pour timing

Transport Truck Driving

  • Operate a transport/highway tractor-trailer to move materials and equipment between sites, yards, and customer locations
  • Plan routes, manage load securement, and complete accurate trip logs and delivery paperwork
  • Perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections in compliance with regulations
  • Load and unload materials safely, using equipment as required

General

  • Follow all safety protocols, traffic laws, and company policies
  • Maintain a clean, well-functioning vehicle and report any mechanical issues promptly
  • Provide friendly, professional service to clients and job site personnel
  • Be flexible to switch between concrete and transport duties based on daily operational needs

What We're Looking For

  • Valid Class 1/3 (or equivalent) driver's licence — please specify which license(s) you hold
  • Clean driving record and abstract
  • Experience operating a concrete mixer truck and/or a transport/tractor-trailer truck
  • Comfortable and willing to cross-train in whichever area you have less experience
  • Strong understanding of load securement, vehicle inspection, and safety standards
  • Ability to read maps/GPS and plan efficient routes
  • Good communication skills and a team-first attitude
  • Valid air brake endorsement (required)
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform loading/unloading duties as required
  • Willing and able to work overtime as needed
  • Available to work weekends

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in both concrete delivery and freight transport
  • Familiarity with local job sites, weigh stations, and DOT/territorial regulations
  • Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)

Why Join Us

  • Be part of a hardworking, high-performing team that takes pride in the job
  • Work on a variety of job sites across Whitehorse and the Yukon
  • Learn new skills and gain experience across both concrete and transport driving
  • Competitive pay with opportunities for overtime
  • Seasonal schedule with winters off
