Job Title: #26-45 FireSmart Crew Leader
Department: Lands and Natural Resources
Status: Full-Time Term (October 30th, 2026 end date)
Salary: Level 6 ($40.60p/hr -$51.38p/hr)
Closing Date: August 18th, 2026

Your Role
Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator the FireSmart Crew Leader supervises the C/TFN FireSmart Crew and ensures the team supports wildfire preparedness and prevention initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Crew Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise and direct FireSmart Crew Members
- Implement the FireSmart workplan
- Lead daily safety meetings and ensure incidents are reported
- Transport personnel and equipment to and from worksites
Vegetation Management & FireSmart Activities
- Conduct vegetation management including falling and bucking trees, brushing, and pruning
- Stack logs and burn/remove brush
- Ensure safe work practices are followed
Equipment & Records Management
- Procure and maintain equipment
- Conduct daily inspections, cleaning, and maintenance
- Maintain records of equipment and vehicle usage and maintenance

- Chainsaw safety certificate
- Experience supervising a team
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Suitability
- Experience using a chainsaw
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory position
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Ability to work effectively as a part of a team
- Ability to conduct physically demanding work and lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Bear awareness
Conditions of Employment
- Chainsaw safety certification
- Valid Class 5 Yukon’s Driver’s License
- Recent Drivers Abstract
