Mt Sima's Rookie Snow Sports Instructors are individuals who thrive in the outdoors, love the mountains, and are passionate about Instructing skiing, snowboarding, and adaptive snow sports. We are looking for people who share this passion to join us, maybe for a season, or maybe as part of an exciting career.

Position Status:

Full-Time Instructor (20-30 hours/week) Thursday to Sunday from December 2026 to April 2027. Everyday during Christmas and Spring break.

Part-Time Instructor (1 or 2 reccuring day(s) each week) Thursday to Sunday from December 2026 to April 2027, as well as availability during Christmas and Spring Break or as desired.

Casual Instructor (on an as-needed basis) Thursday to Sunday from December 2026 to April 2027, as well as availability during Christmas and Spring Break or as desired.

Actual hours of work will depend on the number of lessons booked, which varies, impacted by factors outside of our control (especially cold weather).

Job summary:

You will be responsible for providing a fun and memorable learning experience for guests whether it is their first time trying a snow sport or they are wanting to take their technique and skills to the next level. While you will provide lessons for all ages, the majority of lessons will be private lessons for children aged 4-12.

Mount Sima will be hosting a CSIA Level 1 Ski Instructor course and a CASI Level 1 Snowboard Instructor course this December. You must be at least 14 years old to complete the CSIA course, and 15 years old to complete the CASI course.

Your employment as a snow sports instructor is dependent on the successful completion of at least one of these courses. You must be able to demonstrate comfortable and safe riding/skiing abilities on intermediate terrain with proper technique, as well as demonstrating effective teaching skills according to the methodologies taught during the course. Duties:

Once you have successfully completed all components of a CASI and/or CSIA Level 1 course you will be responsible for:

  • Teach lessons following the Canadian Ski Instructors' Alliance (CSIA), Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI), and/or the Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS) methodologies.
  • Always abide by the Alpine Responsibility Code.
  • Organize lessons to create a safe and fun learning environment that suits each guest's unique needs.
  • Ensure that lessons are taught in a safe and controlled manner to match the experience and ability level of each guest.
  • Supervise and instruct groups of children in a variety of activities. Care for their safety and emotional needs.
  • Provide suitable, individualized lesson feedback and evaluation to the guests and/or their parents/guardians according to your qualification.
  • Ensure that the guidelines and safety rules as outlined in the Safety Manual are always followed.
  • Deliver exceptional guest service to all students and customers.
  • Share the stoke for snow sports at Mt. Sima.
  • Support all Snow School needs and additional duties as required.
  • Act as a prudent parent in the absence of the child's caregiver.
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum CASI Level 1, CSIA Level 1, or PSIC Level 1 certification or equivalent
  • Models safety first practices
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Great organizational skills
  • Ability to work well as a part of a team
  • Positive and fun loving attitude
  • Required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check certificate (valid within 18 months of your start date)

Preference given to those with:

  • Previous instructing/teaching experience
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Second language is an asset
