Reporting to Manager of Medical Rehabilitation Services, the Clinical Lead is responsible for providing clinical leadership and guidance to YHC rehabilitation staff. Ensures safe, effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services including quality assessment and treatment, monitoring of patient outcomes and discharge planning at all YHC facilities.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Strong knowledge of professional practices and procedures as outlined by Canadian Occupational Association;
  • Working knowledge of the Code of Ethics as outlined by Canadian Occupational Association;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement rehabilitative programs/services;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, schedule and assign work, resolve operating problems and assess clinical competency and performance;
  • Knowledge of management methods and techniques including human and financial management;
  • Ability to plan and implement a resource management program for rehabilitation services;
  • Ability to teach rehabilitation practices and other relevant skills;
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology;
  • Solutions oriented with excellent decision-making skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Effective interpersonal skills;
  • Strong quality assurance and continuous improvement skills;
  • Advocacy and assertiveness skills;
  • Ability to effectively engage multidisciplinary staff;
  • Ability to advocate for patients, patients’ family, rehabilitation staff and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Good judgement, initiative, and reliability;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.

The successful candidate is required to have: a Baccalaureate in Occupational Therapy; minimum 5 years’ experience and minimum 2 years’ supervisory/clinical leadership experience, preferably within an acute care health facility; Current membership in a Canadian Occupational Therapists Association; Current CPR; and a valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean drivers abstract. Education/training/certification desired: additional education related to Human Resource management, mentoring or continuous quality improvement; and operational knowledge of information systems, preferably Meditech.
