Geological Technician
Fox Exploration Ltd. is accepting applications for a Geotech / Junior Geologist, as outlined below, to work at a mineral exploration camp near Dawson City, Yukon. Job Description
As a member of the geological team, you will work under the supervision of the Senior Project Geologist in the processing of diamond drill core. The primary role for this position will be as a Geological Technician, however the opportunity to conduct core logging may also be available depending on the qualifications and experience of the applicant. The project site is located in a remote area, approximately 100 km east of Dawson City, Yukon. Transportation to and from camp, along with room and board will be provided. Shift rotations are typically four weeks on , two weeks off. Transportation to and from the job site along with room and board will be provided.
Main Job Duties of the Geotech:
- Labelling core boxes, determining RQD and core recovery
- Conducting specific gravity measurements
- Photographing drill core and organizing/labelling pictures
- Sampling of marked up core
- General data entry
- Preparation of drill core samples for shipment to assay labs
- Management of core storage
- Work closely with and provide support to the geological department
Requirements
- Preference will be given to those with a B.Sc. in Earth Sciences / Engineering or a similar degree or diploma in related fields of discipline along with those who are currently enrolled in those fields of study.
- Previous experience is an asset however training will be provided to a suitable candidate
- Experience with Excel Spreadsheets and other basic computer skills
- Previous experience using geological software is an asset
- Ability to work independently or as part of a cohesive team
- Ability to work long hours with the physical fitness required to lift heavy boxes of drill core
Salary
Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
