***For the right candidate, they will have the opportunity to be enrolled into the Canadian College of Funeral Service- Funeral Director/Embalmer Apprenticeship Program.***

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform basic office duties that include but not limited to; reception duties, answering the phone, and providing administrative support to the Manager of Heritage North.
  2. Performing transfers of the decedent from place of death to the funeral home.
  3. Being available for a rotation on-call schedule.
  4. Assisting Funeral Directors in process of carrying out bereavement rights and disposition.
  5. Assisting Embalmers in carrying out preparation of the decedent.
  6. Learn to operate and maintain the Crematorium.
  7. Performing errands daily.
  8. Maintaining service building appearance (cleaning inside of building, yard work, etc.).
  9. Maintaining service vehicles (cleaning and washing vehicles).

Requirements:

  1. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, both verbally and written, fluent in English.
  2. Class 5 driver’s License (minimum of 3 years driving insurance history).
  3. Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
  4. Clean driving record (abstract).
  5. Be in good physical condition and understand good body mechanics pertaining to lifting (50 lbs) and standing for long periods.
  6. Available to work some evenings and weekends.
  7. Demonstrate flexibility to be able to prioritize between a wide variety of tasks.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to work within a team and independently.
  9. Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and the understanding of the essential right to confidentiality in this environment.
