The First Nation School Board (FNSB) was established in February 2022. Our main office is located in Whitehorse, Yukon, on the territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. FNSB serves and works in partnership with Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, Liard First Nation, Ross River Dena Council, Champagne and Aishihik First Nation, White River First Nation, Ta'an Kwäch'än Council, Kwanlin Dün First Nation, Selkirk First Nation, Carcross/Tagish First Nation, and Kluane First Nation for the schools and Learners on their territories.

Our approach to instruction, programming, and operations promotes reconciliation by being grounding in Yukon First Nations values of student-centered, strengths-based, and community-led. Board-run schools are for all Yukon students.

The Land and Language Connector plays an important role in connecting students, staff, and the school community to the land, language, and culture of the Kluane First Nation. Working collaboratively with school staff, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Kluane First Nation, and community members, this position supports the integration of Southern Tutchone language, land-based learning, and culturally responsive practices throughout the school.

We acknowledge and respect that we live and work by the shores of Kluane Lake, which reaches the St. Elias and Ruby Mountain ranges, in A si keyi – My Grandfather’s Country – the traditional territory of the Lhù’ààn Mân Ku Dań, the Kluane Lake People. Guided by this place and its teachings, the Land and Language Connector helps create meaningful learning experiences that honour the history, knowledge, values, and traditions of the Kluane First Nation while fostering students' sense of identity, belonging, and connection to the land. Through relationship-building, curriculum support, and on-the-land programming, the position contributes to student success and well-being while strengthening partnerships between the school and community.

The successful Connector is comfortable using computers, phones, and common workplace technology, or demonstrates a willingness and ability to learn these tools, including email, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office applications, to communicate, collaborate, maintain records, and support program delivery.
