Join the passionate, community-driven team at Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) as our next Youth Outreach & Wellness Coordinator—role that includes creativity, meeting people where they are at and working from a community driven perspective. As a key member of our Justice team, you will step into a dynamic position that blends outreach, culture, advocacy, and on-the-land programming. Reporting to the Manager of Family Support and Community Engagement, you will work directly with youth—helping them strengthen their identity, build confidence, and deepen their connection to KDFN culture and community.

In this impactful role, you will:

• Connect with youth where they are—at home, in the community, and out on the land
• Design and deliver powerful, youth-focused programs that inspire growth and wellness
• Offer meaningful support and advocacy for young people navigating complex challenges
• Collaborate closely with Education, Recreation, Lands, Health, and other KDFN teams
• Provide or coordinate culturally grounded holistic support and crisis intervention when needed

Required Qualifications (what we look for on your resume):

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Health, or a related field (equivalency’s may be considered);
• A minimum of two years’ experience in programs such as mental health, wellness or a related field;
• Experience working in a case management model of care.
• Experience providing support to youth in the areas of trauma, violence, abuse, addictions and residential school direct and intergenerational effects;
• Knowledge of and experience working successfully in a First Nation community is an asset.
• Experience in planning and facilitating First Nation traditional land-based recreation and programs and projects;

Required knowledge and skills (what we assess):

• Considerable relevant knowledge around KDFN and Yukon First Nation culture and tradition including a level of demonstrated investment in the community;
• Knowledge and proficiency in community-based mental health and addictions with a youth focus;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
• Cultural competence and sensitivity to the diverse needs of youth and families.
• Knowledge of working with at-risk youth and collaborating with traditional helpers in a culturally respectful manner.

Knowledge of Kwanlin Dün First nation governance structure, our community, heritage and culture, social structure, language and traditions, goals and aspirations are essential for success in this position.

Conditions of employment:

• An acceptable criminal record check with vulnerable sector search

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and personal transportation

• First Aid & CPR certification (willingness to obtain within 3 months)

• Demonstrate and maintain a healthy, self-sufficient lifestyle

Job Requirements:

• Willingness to flexible working schedule which can include weekends and holidays when camps or activities are being run.
• Physical fitness to participate in or lead recreational and traditional land-based activities.
• Travel within the KDFN traditional territory. Out of territory travel may be required on occasion.

Salary: $68,286.40 to $113,594.80 per annum ($37.52 - $62.39/hr.) Level 6 *plus benefits
