Arctic Sports/Native Youth Olympics Instructor

General Description

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of the Yukon Aboriginal Sport Circle, this position is responsible for Arctic Sports/Native Youth Olympics programs delivery. This includes program planning, delivering and reporting.

Conditions: Full Time – 37.5 hours/week

Starting date: 15^th August 2026

Qualifications:

• Past AS/NYO sport background that includes being an athlete, coach, manager or an official.
• Past participation in one or more of the following: NYO, JNYO, WEIO, Northern Games (Inuvik), AS competition in AWG.
• Knowledge of AS/NYO and Inuit culture.
• NCCP coaching certifications and trainings is an asset.
• An understanding of the Yukon Sport System, Aboriginal Sport context and knowledge of Yukon Communities.
• Knowledge of other sports is an asset.
• Knowledge and experience working with volunteers, youth and parents.

• Highly motivated team player and a “Finisher” (carry through and complete projects; multitask)
• Leadership skills
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Conflict resolution skills and the ability to successfully deal with day to day challenges.

Conditions of Employment

• Class 5 Driver’s License
• Completed Vulnerable Sector Check
