Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and community-focused Community Outreach Lead to join our team. This is a junior-level role for someone passionate about community, relationship building, entrepreneurship, and making a meaningful impact in the Yukon. Reporting to the Director of Entrepreneurship, the successful candidate will support and deliver Pathfinding services, outreach events, business coaching, workshops, and grant reporting activities across Yukon communities.
Position Details
Position Type: Term to March 31st, 2027 (with possibility of extension)
Hours: 30–35 hours per week, based on organizational need
Compensation: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
Reports To: Director of Entrepreneurship
Travel: Travel to Yukon communities is required
End Date: March 31st, 2027. Extension possible based on funding
Key Responsibilities
1. Pathfinding Services: In-Person & Coordination (~25%)
- Coordinate and deliver in-person Pathfinding sessions in Yukon communities, in alignment with Yukonstruct's outreach, engagement goals, and funding requirements.
- Ensure sessions are tailored to the needs of each community and delivered in a culturally appropriate and accessible format.
- Maintain an up-to-date database to track client progress, interactions, and outcomes; generate regular reports to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Guide entrepreneurs through challenges and opportunities by connecting them with relevant tools, resources, and support networks.
- Document all coaching interactions and track outcomes for reporting and evaluation purposes.
2. Community Outreach & Events (~25%)
- Design and facilitate an interactive Yukonstruct display booth or installation for community events and markets; engage community members to share program information and gather input.
- Partner with community partners to plan and execute community events aligned with organizational goals.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for community participants, providing timely support and clear communication.
3. Collaborative Workshops (~20%)
- Plan and deliver workshops in collaboration with partner organizations, per the agreed contractor travel schedule (September–March).
- Submit a travel schedule and budget for community visits and workshops
- Lead the design and planning of workshops tailored for entrepreneurs, identify relevant topics, recruit guest speakers, and collect participant feedback.
- Ensure workshop content is relevant, clearly communicated, and supports shared goals between Yukonstruct and partnering organizations.
4. Reporting, Data Collection & Grant Compliance (~30%)
- Coordinate, gather and organize data for grant reporting
- Submit monthly and quarterly written reports using Yukonstruct's internal Key Metrics reporting document, summarizing activities, participation, outcomes, and recommendations.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated interest or experience in business advising, coaching, or entrepreneurial support
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively with First Nations communities and diverse cultural groups
- Proficiency in data collection, documentation, and basic reporting
- Ability to travel to Yukon communities (valid Yukon driver's licence required)
Assets
- Experience or coursework in business, entrepreneurship, community development, or a related field
- Familiarity with startup ecosystems, small business challenges, or entrepreneurship support systems
- Experience with program coordination, event planning, or workshop facilitation
- Knowledge of or connection to Yukon communities and the local business landscape
- Experience with database management, CRM tools, or impact measurement
