Advocacy Representative
The Yukon Child and Youth Advocate Office is seeking recruitment of a full-time permanent position starting August 24, 2026. This competition will give preference to candidates who belong to a Yukon First Nation or of Indigenous ancestry.
Salary range for this position is $89,704 to $104,403 per annum plus 12% in lieu of pension. Starting salary will be based on experience.
Reporting to the Child & Youth Advocate, the Advocacy Representative provides professional advocacy services for Yukon children and youth eligible to receive legislated designated services, ensuring the views and rights of children and youth are meaningfully considered in decisions. The Advocacy Representative elicits the voice of children and youth and analyzes advocacy issues through a child rights lens promoting the views, rights and interests of the child or youth.

Essential Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field of social work, child and youth care, psychology, education, law, or other related discipline. Other significant related education and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Extensive experience providing direct client centered casework, including case planning, documentation, record keeping, drafting correspondence and data collection.
- Extensive experience engaging children and youth of all ages and abilities. Experience providing services to families and communities in the areas of trauma, violence, abuse, addictions and intergenerational effects of trauma.
- Recent experience working with Yukon First Nations governments, Yukon government departments and Yukon community organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to communicate effectively (both orally and written), conflict resolution skills, supportive counselling skills, and experience working in a team environment.
Additional Requirements:
This position requires a Valid Class 5 Driver’s license, a signed Oath of Confidentiality, a signed Declaration of Conflict of Interest, an acceptable criminal record check with vulnerable sector search. Some travel is required.
