Role Overview

Cypherfest is the Heart of Riverdale’s flagship dance festival, celebrating street dance culture, creativity, and community. Over the course of multiple days, dancers from Whitehorse, across Yukon, and from around Canada come together to train, compete, and showcase their art.

Now entering its latest edition, Cypherfest continues its tradition of blending open cyphers, battles, and public programming. The festival strives to elevate Breaking and Hiphop within the broader arts landscape, while making space for emerging talent to connect with more seasoned artists.

Friday: Skatepark / Concrete Jam
Location: Local Skatepark
Time: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Live music, free food and Cyphers
4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Saturday: Battles, Flea Market
Location: Rotary Park
Time: 3 PM – 8PM
Whitehorse Flea Market curated by Isolated Garments, featuring local vendors, artists, and food trucks
Breaking and HipHop Battles

This opportunity lets you engage with artists from around Canada during an event filled weekend. Get involved and receive this years Cypherfest sticker and a limited edition Cypherfest t-shirt!

Responsibilities

Volunteers are crucial for a smooth sailing weekend. With volunteer roles at the Carcross Skatepark on July 31 and at Rotary Park on August 1st! Main tasks and activities include helping setup/takedown of event space, greeters, parking management, security/cleanup duties, first aid booth, BBQ team (July 31), and help run our beer garden (Aug 1)!

Experience and Skills

Anyone can apply! Experience working with others and taking directions and leadership abilities are helpful.
First Aid Certificate necessary for First Aid Booth
Bartenders must be 19+

Estimated Time Commitment

All shifts are between 4-6 hours. You can sign up for more than one position if available!

Volunteer Recognition or Benefits

Volunteers will receive a limited edition Cypherfest T-shirt and stickers
