Shop Assistant / Jack (or Jill) of All Trades

Do you know which end of a shovel goes in the snow? Can you drive a forklift without taking out a fence? Are you the kind of person who sees something that needs doing and just gets it done?

At Whitehorse Motors, no two days are the same. One minute you're unloading parts with a forklift, the next you're washing a customer's truck, clearing snow with a Kubota, or making a parts run across town. If variety keeps you motivated, you'll fit right in.

What you'll be doing:

• Operating a forklift to unload and move parts and vehicles.
• Keeping the shop, service drive, and lot clean, organized, and looking great.
• Emptying shop garbage and recycling runs
• Washing customer vehicles when it's not freezing outside.
• Running errands around town.
• Assisting technicians and other departments wherever an extra pair of hands is needed.
• Operating a Kubota loader to clear snow in the winter.
• Shoveling sidewalks, entrances, and those spots the loader can't quite reach.
• Helping with seasonal yard maintenance and other miscellaneous duties.

What we're looking for:

• Someone who enjoys staying busy and doesn't need to be told what to do every five minutes.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors—in sunshine, rain, or a Yukon winter.
• Forklift experience is an asset (we can train the right person).
• Experience operating loaders or other equipment is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and not afraid of a little hard work.
• Reliable, positive, and a good teammate with a sense of humour.

Warning: This job will involve snow, mud, grease, the occasional fox wandering through the lot, and coworkers asking, "Hey... when you get a minute..." You'll probably sleep well at the end of the day.
