La Petite Maison is a French-inspired restaurant, café, pastry, and catering business located in Whitehorse, Yukon. We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and organized Food Counter Attendant to join our team in a permanent, full-time role.

The successful candidate will support daily front-counter service, food and beverage preparation, customer service, take-out orders, light cleaning, stocking, and general food service operations in a fast-paced café and restaurant environment.

Main Duties

The Food Counter Attendant will perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Greet customers and provide friendly, professional service at the counter.
  • Take customer orders accurately for dine-in, take-out, and online orders.
  • Prepare, portion, assemble, and package simple food items, pastries, beverages, and take-out orders.
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks.
  • Serve customers at the counter and assist with food hand-off.
  • Process customer payments using the point-of-sale system.
  • Stock display cases, fridges, beverage stations, packaging, and service areas.
  • Keep records of quantities used or items needing restocking when required.
  • Clear and clean tables, trays, counters, and customer areas.
  • Wash, sanitize, and maintain work surfaces, equipment, dishes, and service areas.
  • Remove garbage and recycling and help maintain cleanliness throughout the restaurant.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Assist kitchen and service staff with basic support tasks as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Some secondary school education required; high school diploma or equivalent is an asset.
  • Previous restaurant, café, bakery, catering, food service, retail, or customer service experience is an asset.
  • On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Ability to communicate with customers and team members in English.
  • French language skills are an asset but not required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow food safety, hygiene, and cleaning procedures.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, respectful, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Work Conditions

  • Fast-paced restaurant and café environment.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Repetitive tasks.
  • Handling food, beverages, dishes, packaging, and cleaning supplies.
  • 7 hours per day, 5 days per week. Full-time, permanent, year-round.
  • Work includes weekends and holidays.
