Visitor Services Coordinator, Yukon Wildlife Preserve

The Yukon Wildlife Preserve is seeking a self-motivated, team-player to provide excellent customer service and administrative support to the Preserve's front-of-house operations.

The Preserve's Visitor Services department welcomes 35,000+ visitors annually. The Visitor Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting with front-of-house operations to ensure they are engaging, smooth and effective. This position assists with support of Wildlife Interpreters and reports to, and works closely with, the Manager of Visitor Services.

The Visitor Services Coordinator provides administrative and logistical behind-the-scenes support to the front-of-house by taking and responding to bookings, assisting with cash-outs, social-media marketing, and more. This position also provides interpretive programming through guided bus-tours, VIP tours, special events and in support of other YWP programming initiatives.

This is an full-time position (up to 80 hours bi-weekly). This positions start date is flexible ideally looking for the right candidate to start in early August. This is a full-time year-round position. Work days include shiftwork, weekends and holidays as required. Work location is the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, KM 8, Takhini Hot Springs Road, 30km from downtown Whitehorse, Yukon. Staff are responsible for their own accommodations and transportation needs.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $55,000-$60,000 Annual Salary
  • 2 weeks paid vacation
  • 12 days Paid sick time / annually (accrued at 4.6% of hours worked to a maximum of 18 days, paid sick time is not eligible for payout upon termination).
  • Shared Benefits Plan (50/50 split with employer)

Position Description:

  • Provide exceptional customer Service.
  • Assist with the delivery of the following portfolios:
    • Visitor Services Operations
    • Social Media Portfolio and implementation of YWP’s marketing strategy
    • Retail Operations
    • Facility Rentals
    • Special Events
    • VIP Tours
    • Membership
    • Travel Trade Partnerships
    • Film and Photography
  • Complete other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A combination of education and experience in customer service, administration, marketing and/or interpretation/education,;
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in challenging situations;
    • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience working with diverse audiences;
  • Interest, knowledge or experience in Yukon wildlife;
  • Proven ability to work independently and maintain enthusiasm with minimal supervision;
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills;
  • Technical Requirements:
    • Standard First Aid Certificate;
    • Ability to pass a criminal record check;
    • Clean driver's abstract;
    • Ability to obtain Class 4 Yukon Driver’s License or equivalent (for 24 passenger bus)
    • Competent with computer programs like Microsoft , Google Calendar and Spreadsheets, iPad system, Point of Sale system and Customer Management system.
    • Ability to speak French, or second languages an asset;
