Opportunity Overview
This contracted opportunity invites expressions of interest from Nurse Practitioners (NPs) interested in providing ongoing services at the new Alliance Health Primary Care Clinic in Whitehorse and supporting improved access to primary health care services.
Based on available clinic space, Alliance Health Primary Care Clinic is seeking four to six service providers. A variety of ongoing work arrangements may be accommodated, including full-time, part-time, and scheduled casual or as-needed availability.
Nurse Practitioners will provide comprehensive, culturally safe, and trauma-informed care while practising to the full scope of their legislative authority.
Program Description
Nurse Practitioners will provide comprehensive, family-centred primary care across the lifespan, integrating advanced clinical skills, evidence-based practice, and specialized nursing knowledge. They will independently manage health concerns ranging from acute to chronic and from straightforward to complex.
Nurse Practitioners will work as part of an NP team and will receive clinical support from an NP Clinical Lead. NPs may also have opportunities to provide care through two specialized services: the Yukon Sexual Health Clinic and the Yukon Women’s Midlife Health Clinic.

Compensation
Level 1 = $162.50 per hour
Level 2 = $171.06 per hour
The position will be classified into one of the following levels:
Level 1 – Nurse Practitioner (Early Career)
Less than five (5) years of Nurse Practitioner experience
Level 2 – Nurse Practitioner (Experienced)
Five (5) or more years of Nurse Practitioner experience
Contract information
- This position is offered as a three (3) year contract.
- Start date is flexible and will be determined in consultation with the successful candidate.
- The contract may be extended based on operational requirements and mutual agreement.
- This contract does not provide any additional benefits such as paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, paid parental leave, extended health benefits, or pension contributions.
- As self-employed contractors, successful applicants must maintain the required professional liability insurance and Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board coverage throughout the contract term.
Time Commitment
The specific time commitment will be determined based on the applicant’s expressed interest and the clinic’s operational requirements. Ongoing full-time, part-time, and scheduled casual or as-needed arrangements may be considered. Preference will be given to applicants who can provide regular late-day or Saturday coverage.
Flexible work arrangements support locally based Nurse Practitioners in providing consistent, ongoing service while accommodating different schedules and time commitments.
Full time = 2024 hours per year
Location and Availability
Applicants must currently reside in Whitehorse or the surrounding area or be willing to relocate and establish themselves locally before beginning the contract. Applicants are responsible for their own relocation costs, as relocation assistance or reimbursement will not be provided.
This opportunity is intended to support a locally based Nurse Practitioner workforce providing consistent, ongoing service.
Eligibility Requirements
Ability to meet the following conditions are contractual requirements and are required in advance of the contract start date.
- Be eligible for registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association

Qualifications
Education and Licensing:
- Master’s degree in Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP)
- Eligible for licensure with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA)
- Additional training or experience in midlife health or sexual health would be considered an asset
Experience and Competencies:
- Recent experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner in a primary care or comparable setting
- Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive care across the lifespan, including management of acute and chronic conditions
- Strong autonomous clinical decision-making skills, including diagnosis, prescribing, and ordering/interpreting diagnostics
- Experience working in interdisciplinary team environments
- Experience working in a rural or remote clinical setting
- Demonstrated commitment to culturally safe and trauma-informed care
- Collaborative and committed to working within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated leadership in clinical practice, including mentorship, preceptorship, or program development
Selection Process
This is a contracted, self-employed Nurse Practitioner opportunity and not a Yukon Government employment position.
