Hotel Cashier (NOC 65100)
Job Category: Customer Service
Work Settings:
- Motel
- Gas bar
- Confectionery/corner store
- Grab and go foods
Key Duties:
- Operate cash register and process payments (money, cheques, credit/debit cards)
- Scan items and tabulate total payment for goods/services
- Receive payment and reconcile daily/shift totals with sales
- Suggestive selling to enhance customer experience
- Stock shelves and maintain clean counter areas
- Greet customers and provide excellent customer service
- Accept reservations and take-out orders
- Wrap or bag merchandise
- Calculate foreign currency exchange
- Monitor entrances/exits and request proof of payment when necessary
- Participate in promotional activities
- Verify age for lottery tickets, alcohol, or tobacco sales
Security and Safety Requirements:
- Criminal record check
- Reference required
- Credit check
Qualifications:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
- 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Computer and technology knowledge
- Experience with electronic cash register, Interac machine, and price scanner
