The Yukon Quest is seeking an experienced, motivated, and well-connected fundraising professional to expand sponsorship, donor, and philanthropic support for the organization. This is a commission-based contractor role designed for an individual who is confident in securing new revenue opportunities and building long-term relationships with corporate sponsors, foundations, government agencies, and individual donors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding funding relationships that contribute to the financial sustainability and growth of the Yukon Quest.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • · Corporate Sponsorship Development
    • o Identify and secure new corporate sponsorship opportunities.
  • o Develop customized sponsorship proposals and partnership packages.
  • o Negotiate sponsorship agreements and benefits.
  • · Major Gifts and Donor Relations
    • o Identify prospective major donors and philanthropic supporters.
  • o Cultivate relationships with individuals capable of making significant contributions.
  • o Coordinate donor recognition and stewardship activities.
  • o Develop strategies to increase recurring and annual giving.
  • · Grants and Foundation Funding
    • o Research grant opportunities and funding programs.
  • o Prepare and submit grant applications and proposals.
  • o Track reporting requirements and funding outcomes.
  • · Fundraising Strategy
    • o Work collaboratively with leadership to establish fundraising goals and priorities.
  • o Develop annual fundraising plans and revenue projections.
  • o Recommend new revenue streams and partnership opportunities.
  • o Assist with fundraising campaigns and special events where appropriate.
  • · Relationship Management
    • o Represent the Yukon Quest professionally with sponsors, donors, government representatives, and community stakeholders.
  • o Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities and prospects.
  • o Provide regular progress reports on outreach efforts and funding pipeline development.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The successful candidate will:

  • Consistently generate qualified funding prospects.
  • Build a sustainable pipeline of sponsors and donors.
  • Meet mutually agreed-upon annual fundraising targets.
  • Uphold the reputation and mission of the Yukon Quest through professional and ethical fundraising practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated success securing sponsorships, donations, grants, or other fundraising revenue.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Established network within corporate, philanthropic, or community sectors is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of northern communities, outdoor recreation, tourism, sport, or cultural organizations is considered an asset.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

This position is compensated solely through commission on funds successfully secured and received by the Yukon Quest.

Example commission structure (to be negotiated):

  • 10–15% of new sponsorship revenue secured.
  • 5–10% of renewed sponsorship revenue.

Specific commission rates, eligible revenue sources, payment schedules, and performance expectations will be outlined in an Independent Contractor Agreement.
