Reports To: YukonDocs Director of Physician Recruitment

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon (with territory-wide responsibilities). Applicants must reside in Whitehorse.

Compensation/Position Structure: Part-time, remote position. $35/hour (up to $45,000 annually)

Position Summary

The YukonDocs Community Navigator plays a key role in supporting physician recruitment, retention, and community integration across the Yukon. This position is responsible for helping locum and permanent physicians’ transition smoothly into practice and life in the territory by coordinating travel logistics, accommodations, housing supports, and community connections.

The Community Navigator serves as a central point of contact for incoming physicians and their families, helping them navigate both professional and personal aspects of relocation and settlement in Yukon communities. This role also supports YukonDocs recruitment initiatives by fostering strong relationships with community organizations, and local service providers.

Key Responsibilities

Physician Recruitment & Community Integration

  • Support physician recruitment efforts by providing detailed community information and personalized assistance to prospective physicians.
  • Coordinate and participate in recruitment events, physician site visits, and community tours.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and recruitment partners on behalf of YukonDocs.
  • Assist physicians and their families in transitioning into Yukon communities and healthcare environments.
  • Provide information regarding schools, childcare, recreation, cultural activities, and local services.
  • Maintain a welcoming and supportive experience for physicians throughout recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Support physician spouses and families by connecting them with employment, educational, and community resources.

Locum Travel & Logistics Coordination

  • Coordinate all travel arrangements for locum physicians, including accommodation and vehicle rentals.
  • Liaise with rental providers to secure cost-effective and suitable arrangements.
  • Ensure locums receive complete travel itineraries and orientation information prior to arrival.
  • Troubleshoot travel disruptions and logistical issues as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of bookings, schedules, and travel-related expenses.

Physician Housing Support

  • Assist permanent physicians in identifying and securing short-term and long-term housing options.
  • Coordinate temporary housing solutions for incoming physicians when required.
  • Support physicians with housing searches and local housing resources.
  • Conduct or arrange virtual and in-person housing viewings when appropriate.
  • Maintain up-to-date housing inventories and community accommodation resources.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop partnerships with local businesses, municipalities, tourism organizations, and community groups to support physician recruitment and retention.
  • Promote Yukon communities as welcoming destinations for physicians and healthcare professionals.
  • Assist in the development of promotional materials, social media content, and community resource information.
  • · Maintain a positive and professional presence representing YukonDocs.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records related to physician onboarding, travel coordination, accommodations, and housing supports.
  • Track metrics related to physician recruitment, retention, and community integration activities.
  • Attend regular meetings with Director to discuss activities, outcomes, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement of recruitment and retention processes.

Qualifications & Skills

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of Yukon communities and northern living.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and coordination abilities
  • Experience managing travel logistics, scheduling, or event coordination
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and community partners
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have a personal mode of transportation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint and virtual communication tools
  • Experience in healthcare recruitment, hospitality, relocation services, or community engagement is an asset

Working Conditions

  • The successful candidate will work as an independent contractor to YukonDocs.
  • Working approximately 23 hours per week.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required for recruitment events or physician arrivals.
  • Occasional travel within Yukon communities may be required.
  • Required to use your own computer equipment/cell phone.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
