Position: Front of House Co-ordinator
Status: Casual - Flexible Schedule Evenings and Weekends
1.1 The Front of House Co-ordinator is a member of the bargaining unit reporting to the Director of Programming or designate. The position is responsible for customer services at the Yukon Arts Centre Corporation (YACC).
This position has been in existence at YACC for several years with no position description. This position description was developed in May, 2019 and revised in May, 2026 to meet the current needs of the Yukon Arts Centre.
3.1 Support professional and safe working environment during events by complying with all YACC Health and Safety, Conflict Resolution, and Respect in the Workplace Policies and Procedures.
4.0 Responsibilities/Duties:
4.1 Provide clear, hospitable patron service for all audience members, including the taking of tickets, seat finding, problem solving, and wayfinding.
4.2 Provide customer service to user groups and presenters, including sharing relevant information on ticket sales, merchandise, and event details.
4.3 Support administrative requirements for the office, including general filing, reception duties, and administrative tasks as assigned by the Director of Programming.
4.4 Provide box office services during regular and irregular hours of operation, including phone and online sales, will call distribution, liaising with ticket outlets, and ensuring quality control of ticketing processes.
4.5 Manage cash handling and box office operations, including maintaining floats, reconciling shift sales, tracking attendance through ticket scanning, and maintaining accurate records.
4.6 Provide reception services during irregular hours, including answering and returning calls, directing inquiries, assisting visitors, managing lost and found, and coordinating ticket mailing.
4.7 Monitor and support the opening, closing, and use of public areas including the box office, gallery, community gallery, lobby spaces, bathrooms, and production hallway when required.
4.8 Support all volunteers during events, as assigned by the supervisor.
4.9 Contribute to Front of House Reports for each event, as assigned by the supervisor.
4.10 Respond to compliments, complaints, and concerns from the public and relay information to the Director of Programming, event supervisor, or YAC management.
4.11 Provide general programming support, including hospitality for guest artists, maintaining and cleaning dressing rooms, laundry, running errands for supplies, moving tables and chairs, and supporting outreach tours and related activities.
4.12 Maintain order in box office and public-facing areas, including light housekeeping, stocking publications, and supporting day staff as required.
4.13 Provide bar and concessions service to patrons, including preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks; handling cash and balancing floats, sales, and receipts; assessing customer needs and making recommendations; verifying legal drinking age; maintaining inventory and restocking supplies; cleaning and maintaining bar areas, equipment, and service spaces; and ensuring compliance with all applicable food and beverage regulations and professional dress standards.
4.14 All Yukon Arts Centre employees shall be aware of and respect YAC policies including the Respectful Workplace and Health, Safety and Wellness policies, as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations published by the Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board.
5.0 Reports to: Director of Programming or designate.
6.0 Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma
6.2 Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Yukon Arts Centre emergency procedures, respect in the workplace, and health safety policies and procedures.
6.3 Skills:

7.0 Supervision of Staff: This position works with volunteers and assists them during show calls.
8.0 Supervision of Budget: None
9.0 Working Conditions: Work is completed in a theatre and theatre lobby. The position deals with patrons who can be challenging, emotional, and/or intoxicated. Some lifting of small loads is required (tables and chairs). The incumbent must exercise good problem solving while remaining pleasant and calm under stress. In the event of an evacuation, the position will assist YACC staff in clearing the theatre.
10.0 Mental Demands/Independent Judgement/ Problem Solving: This position follows pre-existing workflow guidelines, policies, and procedures. Safety issues are deferred to the Director of Programming.
Subject to the Collective Agreement, this appointment is governed by the YACC’s employment policies for staff, which may be amended from time-to-time. If there is a conflict between the YACC policy and the Collective Agreement, the Collective Agreement shall apply.
Rate of Pay: $24.00/hour
Benefits: $1.27 an hour in lieu of benefits
Hours of Work: Casual
Employee will track hours on timesheet software provided. The Employee cannot commit to overtime without prior approval.
