We are seeking a reliable, organized, and customer-focused Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Dawson City Community Hospital.

Working closely with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, you will help ensure patients receive safe, timely, and effective pharmacy services. In addition to supporting pharmacy operations, you will assist with the merchandising and day-to-day management of our front store, which carries over-the-counter medications, health products, and personal care items.

Responsibilities

Pharmacy Operations

  • Assist pharmacists with prescription processing and medication dispensing activities.
  • Prepare medication labels, packaging, and documentation.
  • Receive and process prescription orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses, patients, and other healthcare professionals regarding prescription and medication-related inquiries.
  • Coordinate with physicians and hospital staff to ensure timely processing of medication orders.
  • Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy requirements.
  • Assist with medication inventory management, ordering, receiving, and stock control.
  • Use pharmacy software and telepharmacy technology to support daily operations.

Front Store Operations

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to patients and customers.
  • Receive, stock, and organize over-the-counter medications, health and beauty products, and other retail merchandise.
  • Create and maintain attractive product displays and merchandising standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking front store products.
  • Help ensure the store remains clean, organized, and welcoming.
  • Support promotional displays and seasonal merchandising initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Previous pharmacy assistant experience is an asset but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Retail, merchandising, healthcare, medical office, administrative, or customer service experience will be considered.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Comfortable learning and using computer systems and technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong customer service skills and an eye for merchandising and product presentation.
  • Professional, dependable, and patient-focused.
