Position

This position provides customer service to G-P's client base and plays a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Inside Sales Representative adds value by building strong client relationships, addressing customer concerns and complaints, and processing orders in Sage. This team-oriented role requires effective communication and collaboration to ensure orders are processed accurately and delivered to customers efficiently. Additionally, the position supports and assists Customer Service Representatives as needed, providing coverage and contributing to the overall success of the customer service team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by providing value-added support, including product recommendations, samples, product knowledge, appropriate substitutions, and proactive communication regarding product shortages.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of customers' businesses, needs, and objectives.
  • Conduct cold calls, maintain weekly call schedules, and keep customer records and notes up to date.
  • Coordinate in-person customer visits and arrange hotshot deliveries when required.
  • Accurately enter customer orders and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prioritize workload effectively to meet customer and business requirements.
  • Prepare foodservice and equipment quotations as required.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to emails promptly.
  • Assist walk-in customers and manage customer pick-ups.
  • Resolve customer complaints professionally
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing department to:
    • Address customer requests.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report product shortages.
  • Work closely with the Marketing department to obtain the knowledge, information, and tools necessary to effectively promote sales programs.
  • Follow up with customers and internal staff regarding:
    • Order errors and discrepancies.
  • Special orders.
  • Credits and returns.
  • General customer inquiries and requests.
  • Complete end-of-day and closing duties as required.

Experience, Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Experience in sales and customer service
  • Bachelor’s degree in business is not required but would be considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Sound research and networking skills
  • Great written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Competent with computers and Microsoft Office software
  • Familiarity with Sage 100 and/or Scanforce is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Work is typically conducted during a regular Monday to Friday work week and some overtime may be required.
  • Inside Sales Representatives spend most of their time in the office. The position involves sitting in one position for extended periods of time.
