Position
This role focuses on sourcing, procuring and receiving goods while utilizing Sage and Scanforce software for efficient management of procurement activities. As the Junior Purchaser, you will report to and support the Purchaser with purchasing, price quotes, receiving and inventory.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review all batches after they have been uploaded.
- Investigate and resolve all shipping and receiving issues
- Deal with all damaged good inquisitions.
- Creating and discontinuing codes
- Price changes
- Sort and code invoices
- Review the inventory counts
- Assist in the procurement process by buying from approved contracts and suppliers.
- Utilize Sage and Scanforce software for creating purchase orders, tracking orders, quality of goods and customer satisfaction.
- Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist in resolving any procurement-related issues or disputes with suppliers/vendors, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as retail, warehouse and customer services, to ensure smooth procurement processes and timely deliveries.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers/vendors, fostering open communication, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Fill out and submit the monthly beverage returns
- Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and emerging procurement practices to enhance knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience, Education & Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Experience in procurement, negotiation skills and inventory management
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Diploma in Procurement or Supply Chain Management is not required but would be considered an asset.
- Practical experience with purchasing software
- Strong analytical skills
- Sound research and networking skills
- Great written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Competent with computers and Microsoft Office software
- Familiarity with Sage 100 and/or Scanforce is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Work is typically conducted during a regular Monday to Friday work week and some overtime may be required.
- Work is usually performed in an office environment; however, the Junior Purchaser will be working in the cooler / freezer while checking stock, so they are often exposed to cold temperatures.
