We shape, build, and connect the North. We do this by anchoring our work in Drive, Rigour, and Kindness – ambition in what we pursue, discipline in how we deliver, and respect in how we lead.

The opportunity

Northern Vision Development is hiring an IT Manager to lead day-to-day IT operations across a growing, multi-site business. This is a practical leadership role for someone who can keep core systems stable, support users well, work confidently with vendors, and bring more structure and accountability to how IT operates.

Our environment is varied and hands-on. You will support hospitality, senior living, and other operating businesses where downtime matters and service has to work in real time. This role is a strong fit for someone who can move between service desk leadership, systems support, vendor oversight, cybersecurity basics, and operational problem-solving without losing sight of the bigger picture.

What does your success look like?

  • IT issues are organized, visible, and resolved rather than getting stuck or lost
  • Staff across the business receive responsive, practical support that helps them stay operational
  • Network, systems, and site technology are supported in a way that is reliable, secure, and aligned with business needs
  • Core IT practices such as patching, MFA, endpoint protection, access hygiene, and documentation are maintained consistently
  • Service desk metrics, recurring issues, and operational risks are visible and understood by leadership
  • Vendors are coordinated well and held to expectations
  • The IT function becomes more structured, consistent, and disciplined over time

What you bring to the role

  • Considerable IT support experience; supervisory and/or hospitality experience is an asset
  • Strong Microsoft 365 administration knowledge
  • Experience with endpoint management, patching, and user access controls
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, with enough technical depth to review vendor work and support basic network-related tasks
  • Experience using ticketing systems and managing service desk processes and metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to manage third-party vendors and hold them to expectations
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity fundamentals, including MFA, endpoint protection, phishing awareness, patching, and access control
  • Strong documentation discipline and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Trust, integrity, and discretion in handling systems, access, and business information
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work well with management and operations
  • A practical mindset with the ability to think ahead, bring structure, and not just react in the moment

Why build your career with us?

This is an opportunity to build and improve IT in a varied, hands-on environment where challenges, operational demands, and opportunities to solve problems happen every day. We offer:

  • 2-weeks’ vacation pay, increasing at defined service milestones
  • 1-week managers’ leave
  • Health coverage including extended health, dental, and vision
  • RRSP matching to help you build long term financial security
  • Training and development
  • Pathways for advancement; we prioritize promoting from within
  • Preferred staff and friends and family rates across our hotel portfolio
  • Employee assistance and wellness program for you and your dependents

Requirements: Regular in person presence required. Ability to work in a combination of office, site, and operational environments across multiple locations. Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent travel within Whitehorse and communities.

Employment conditions: Class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract, flexibility to work outside regular business hours based on operational needs.
