Walker Home Construction is a growing Yukon-based construction company specializing in residential, commercial, modular, and affordable housing projects throughout the Yukon. We are looking for motivated 3rd and 4th Year Carpenter Apprentices to join our team and develop their skills while working alongside experienced Journeyman Carpenters on a variety of exciting projects.

Position Summary

As a Carpenter Apprentice, you will work under the supervision of skilled Journeyman Carpenters while gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of construction. You will assist with framing, finishing, renovations, modular construction, and general carpentry tasks while progressing through your apprenticeship training.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of Journeyman Carpenters to learn and perform a variety of carpentry tasks.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and install building materials including wood, metal, and drywall.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and to quality standards.
  • Assist with material handling, site preparation, and general construction activities.
  • Participate in apprenticeship training and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and apprenticeship requirements.
  • Support team members and contribute to a positive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Registered in a recognized Carpenter Apprenticeship Program (3rd–4th Year).
  • Previous construction or carpentry experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings is an asset.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Physically capable of lifting materials, working at heights, and performing demanding construction tasks.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is considered an asset.
