Sales Associate / Piercing Apprentice

While prior studio experience is not mandatory, a sincere appreciation, respect, and enthusiasm for the piercing and tattoo industries are essential. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in reception, appointment scheduling, retail customer service, and those who demonstrate a strong desire to pursue a future in professional piercing.
The successful candidate will work closely with our piercers and artists by assisting with front-end operations, client support, jewelry sales, studio organization, inventory management, and piercing-specific support duties while gradually receiving exposure to industry standards, procedures, and apprenticeship responsibilities. Strong interpersonal skills, organization, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm in fast-paced environments are mandatory.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform daily opening and closing procedures.
- Receive and distributes mail/packages, upkeep customer records, log cash tattoo deposits, and conduct inventory counts
- Book tattoo and piercing appointments for resident piercers/tattoo artists as well as guest artists
- Organize and manage appointments, make reminder calls to customers, and maintain an organized and detail-oriented schedule for both customers and service providers
- Monitor email, social media and voice mail messages throughout the day, ensuring prompt and educated responses are provided, logged, as well as communicated to co-workers and service providers
- Maximize sales opportunities by engaging with customers over the phone and in-store
- Provide personalized assistance based on needs and preferences, product information and respond accurately to inquiries regarding jewelry
- Provide assistance to service providers by checking-in customers for tattoo and piercing services
- Assist with consent forms, and ensure customers meet the required condition for services (e.g., are not intoxicated, whether they have eaten prior, etc.)
- Refer customers to piercers for troubleshooting or piercing issues and provide appropriate guidance and support to ensure their satisfaction and safety
- Maintain an organized and visually appealing store environment
- Stock and arrange cases/wall displays to showcase products. Accurately label and displays products to optimize customer visibility and engagement
- Assist with inventory management by regularly monitoring stock levels and product expiration dates, restocking products, making orders, and conducting inventory counts
- Process financial transactions including cash and electronic payments. Count and cash the till in/out at the beginning and end of the day ensuring accuracy and secures cash in the safe
- Ensure a welcoming, clean and safe environment for customers and staff by cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, garbage disposal, sanitizes surfaces, displays and products, and restocks cleaning supplies
- Receive and create POs for new inventory, create signage, update sandwich boards
- Receive cross-training in multiple departments to provide coverage when vacancies arise, specifically undertaking piercing-specific duties as outlined in the piercing apprenticeship timelines.
- Handle busy, stressful situations with a calm and professional demeanor
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum age for this position is 19, no exceptions
- Must have clear Criminal Record Background check within the last 3 months
- Class 5 Drivers License
- Blood Born Pathogens Course, or willing to obtain one
- Experience in Reception, Booking and Customer Service preferred
- Knowledge of piercing and tattoo industry preferred
- Knowledge of infectious diseases, municipal by-laws, Yukon Government environmental health, and industry standards is an asset
- Team player with positive, charismatic, and welcoming, with an outgoing attitude and strong work ethic
- Professional, well-groomed appearance and demeanor
- Able to stand on feet for extended periods of time
- Able to lift 25lbs
