Position Title: Construction Helper (NOC: 75110)

Number of Positions Available: 1

Term of Employment: Permanent Position, 40 hours per week – Overtime Available

Business Location: KM 9.7 North Klondike Highway, Whitehorse, Yukon
Worksites: Various construction sites in Whitehorse and surrounding areas
Note: This position requires the ability to travel between multiple job sites during the workday

Wage: $28.50 per Hour

Relocation Support: The employer is willing to pay relocation costs for any candidate not already in the territory

Language Requirements: English

We are currently seeking a Construction Helper for large-scale construction projects to join our team as a full-time permanent key contributor. This position may require willingness to work in remote locations.

Following will be the main job duties:

Responsibilities

  • Move, load, and distribute construction materials throughout the job site.

  • Set up and dismantle temporary structures including scaffolding, formwork, ramps, safety barriers, and similar site installations.

  • Prepare, mix, and apply construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, and aggregates.

  • Assist skilled trades workers—including carpenters, bricklayers, concrete finishers, roofers, and glaziers—with daily tasks.

  • Provide support to equipment operators by helping attach components, giving hand signals, and assisting with equipment operation.
  • Assist with excavation, grading, and site preparation for residential and commercial construction projects.

  • Level soil, gravel, and other surfaces using hand tools to meet grading requirements.

  • Participate in building demolition, sort salvaged materials, and maintain a clean work area.

  • Remove debris, waste, and other materials from the site to maintain cleanliness and safety.

  • Use hand-held and pneumatic tools such as tampers, vibrators, and hammers when directed.

  • Operate and monitor basic construction equipment including pumps, compressors, and mixers.

  • Help clean up spills or contaminants and safely handle hazardous materials when trained.

  • Lubricate and maintain hoisting or lifting equipment.

  • Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic in active work zones when required.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project progress.

  • Experience less than a year in general construction labour
  • Physically capable of performing labour-intensive tasks in varying outdoor conditions.
  • Must be able to travel to and between various construction sites within Whitehorse.
  • Strong attention to safety, ability to follow instructions, and willingness to learn.
  • On-the-job training provided for suitable candidates.
