Position Title: Heavy Duty Mechanic (40-50 hours per week with applicable overtime, Full-Time, Permanent)

Summary

The Heavy-Duty Mechanic, under the direction of manager performs the necessary preventative maintenance, repairs and conducts PMVI Inspections as required. Duties include but are not limited to; safe and efficient maintenance and repairs, documentation of all work done to fleet, and retention of licenses and certifications. The Heavy-Duty Mechanic must abide by Mercer Contracting’s Health and Safety Policy, and follow the rules, guidelines, safe work practices and safe job procedures therein.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Travel to client sites in and around Whitehorse may be required
  
• Diagnosing and repairing all types of equipment
• Completing work orders for all work done
• Documenting all repairs, maintenance and work done in the fleet binders
• Sourcing parts and supplies with fiscal responsibility
• Keeping an eye on parts and supply inventory
• Communicating with management if equipment is in need of extraordinary repairs and/or if the required repairs are due to employee negligence
• Ensuring PMVI Inspections are done and documented according to regulations
• Following tag-out procedure for all vehicle and equipment requiring service
• Testing repaired equipment for proper performance

Candidate Requirements

• Heavy duty mechanical ticket
• 5 Years heavy duty experience minimum; specialization in diesel engine repair, mechanical maintenance and repair and powered equipment is required
• Automotive ticket is asset
• Must be able to work in and around Whitehorse
• Must possess a class 5 license
• Class 1 license an asset
• Clean drivers abstract, clear of any impaired or 24 hour suspensions
• Language of Work: English
• May be on-call and be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
