CAP Engineering is a multidisciplinary engineering firm delivering practical, high-quality solutions across Western and Northern Canada. With a strong presence in the Yukon, our Whitehorse office supports civil infrastructure, energy, and northern development projects with a focus on constructability, adaptability, and long-term performance in challenging environments.

We are growing our northern team and are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead (P.Eng.) to support project delivery, mentor junior staff, and help drive business development in the region.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for an intermediate to senior engineer who is ready to take the next step into leadership. You will be responsible for technical oversight, team mentorship, and supporting the growth of CAP’s presence in the Yukon.

You will lead a small team of Engineers-in-Training (EITs), contribute to project execution, and play a key role in client relationships and business development.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Act as Engineer of Record (EOR) and provide professional stamp on applicable designs
  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of civil and/or infrastructure projects
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, reports, and calculations
  • Ensure work aligns with applicable codes, standards, and northern design considerations

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead and mentor a team of 3–4 junior engineers/EITs
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback
  • Support career development and progression of junior staff
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment

Project Delivery

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, including scope, schedule, and budget
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders
  • Support QA/QC processes and ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Participate in site visits and field reviews as required

Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships in the Yukon and northern regions
  • Support proposal writing, budgeting, and pursuit strategy
  • Identify new opportunities and contribute to CAP’s growth in the region
  • Represent CAP in meetings, networking events, and with local stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada (or eligible for registration in Yukon)
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience (civil/infrastructure preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and mentoring junior staff
  • Ability to act as Engineer of Record and apply professional stamp
  • Strong understanding of northern design challenges (permafrost, remote logistics, etc.) is an asset
  • Experience with business development, client management, or proposal writing is considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
