Walker Home Construction is seeking a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter to support our growing portfolio of residential, multi-family, and community housing projects across the Yukon. This role is based in Whitehorse with work in both local and remote communities.

We build high-quality, community-driven housing in challenging northern environments. Our team values consistency, quality, connection, and accountability, and we’re looking for a skilled carpenter who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on construction environment.

What you'll do

  • Perform carpentry work on residential construction projects from framing through finishing stages
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Measure, cut, and install building materials including wood, metal, and drywall
  • Coordinate daily work with Site Superintendents and project teams
  • Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available for tasks
  • Support prefab wall installation and structural assembly where required
  • Supervise and mentor apprentices and other carpenters
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards on site
  • Identify and communicate construction issues or delays
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, consultants, and other trades
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good condition
  • Support company procedures and site documentation
  • Perform additional duties as required to support project execution

What you bring

  • Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter certification
  • Several years of residential construction experience
  • Experience with multi-family or remote projects considered an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
