Restaurant Host

Looking for a host, available 11-3:30 on week days.
Our ideal candidate is someone looking for a bit of work during the week, but still want their evenings and weekends. Hours would be over lunch from Monday to Friday. You would be in charge of handling to go orders, phone calls, seating guests, and assisting with bussing when possible. This position would be ideal for someone who needs to pick up their kid from school, or someone semi-retired looking for supplementary income. There is minimal lifting, but extended hours on your feet. All takeout tips are collected by the host, and they are tipped out by the servers.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
- Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way
- Have full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions
- Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods
- Let patrons know of wait times and contact them as a table becomes available
- Answer the phone and take takeout orders
- Seat guests at designated tables and take drink orders, if necessary
- Take DoorDash orders and send them to kitchen, use your judgement to balance orders with in-house traffic.
- Assist servers in removing empty dishes from tables, or running food to tables
Qualifications:
- Previous food service experience an asset
- Previous point of sale system experience an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Salary: $18.51 per hour plus tips from takeout orders and tip out from servers. We are willing to negotiate with the right candidate.
